For some reason, after 15 years, Marcie still can't seem to get the Great Pumpkin's name right.  Still, her heart is in the right place, and she volunteers to help Linus spread the word. At least some help is better than no help... is it?

Peanuts Halloween 1977: I want to see the "Great Grape" when he arrives

The Great Pumpkin story line in 1977 took place mostly AFTER Halloween.  The first strip was on Sunday, October 30, when Snoopy briefly joined Linus in the pumpkin patch.  On Halloween, Marcie, needing something to believe in, waited with Linus to see the "Great Grape", but her parents later deprogrammed her.

Sad but true:  there was no Great Pumpkin in 1972.  There weren't even any Halloween-themed Peanuts comics that year.  Peanuts readers had to wait until 1973 for the Great Pumpkin to return.
